Videolinq Training Sessions

Session 1: Help! I have to organise a videoconference. How do I do that?

This session will give you all of the information that you need to organise a videoconference, whether it is teaching or administration. It will include what details you need to book a videoconference, who can help make the booking, the process of making a booking, where you can videoconference to, costs involved, how to check room availabilty, what you need on the day and demonstration of best practice.

  • Session 2: Basic Equipment Training - TANDBERG

    This session will provide you with the knowledge and hands on experience to use the equipment in your videoconferencing room. You will receive an overview of the Tandberg Remote Control functions, including how to set presets, how calls are connected and disconnected, how to connect and switch to a laptop or document camera, and basic troubleshooting. Please note: If you are unsure of whether you have Tandberg or Cisco equipment please contact either your Site Co-ordinator or Shannon Jones.

  • Session 3: Basic Equipment Training - CISCO

    This session will provide you with the knowledge and hands on experience to use the equipment in your videoconferencing room. You will receive an overview of the Cisco Remote Control functions, including how to set presets, how calls are connected and disconnected, how to connect and switch to a laptop or HoverCam, and basic troubleshooting. Please note: If you are unsure of whether you have Cisco or Tandberg equipment please contact either your Site Co-ordinator or Shannon Jones.

  • Session 4: Teaching and Training by Videoconference - The Potential

    This session covers the potential that videoconferencing has as part of your delivery, the possibilities of using it to deliver training to students or staff within your Region and into other locations, as well as the training requirements for you to acquire your Videoconference Teacher Licence (only required if delivering to TAFE students, not PD delivery).

  • Session 5: Videoconferencing for Meetings

    If you currently chair or participate in meetings held by videoconference, or plan to in the future, this session will give you all of the information you need to ensure they are successful. This training will help you feel confident and comfortable in the VC environment by learning how to improve interaction, seeing best practice first hand, and finding out how to organise a videoconference, including where you can VC to. You will also pick up tips for making your meeting more effective and enjoyable, as well as getting hands on experience using the equipment.

  • Please Note:

    All sessions are held by videoconference. If there is a greater demand for sessions additional dates will be held the following month. You only need to attend one date per session. Additional dates are offered so that all staff have the chance to attend. If you wish to participate in multiple sessions please note that they don’t need to be attended in any particular order. Specialised training or training for large groups can be organised on request.

    All TAFE staff are welcome to attend all sessions.

    VC Teacher Licence Training - Sem 1 and 2 - 2016 Session Dates - Available on request

    These sessions provide training for teachers who plan to deliver their course/program by videoconference. It provides instruction on the educational use of videoconferencing equipment and on the 'best practice' application of appropriate teaching strategies.

    Outcome: Teachers will gain skills in preparing, delivering and reviewing their course or program using the videoconference medium. At the end of the training, teachers receive a Videoconference Teacher Licence and Licence Number that must be quoted when they book a videoconference for teaching.

    Duration: The nominal duration for the training is 15 hours. The training program consists of three hands-on sessions which include two assessment sessions, all by videoconference. The balance of the nominal hours is completed via a self-paced learning guide and web based support materials and learning objects.
